Gamers Assembly 2011: Preview

blog iconsWhile some of the national teams will be in Copenhagen to attend what is probably the most competitive event of the year so far, the French rendez-vous of the week-end is Gamers Assembly which is therm of the masters points the biggest event of the country's LAN circuit. Here is a preview of the forces in attendance.

This weekend is a charged one for CS:S with events all across Europe including France as excluding VeryGames & 3DMAX, the best teams of the country will be gathered at the biggest event of the masters circuit, the Gamers Assembly 2011.

The two French rosters currently under the spotlight beeing out in Denmark for the week-end this is the chance to shine for the others teams. Gamers Assembly is the biggest event of the national calendar and also the last major date of the masters circuit, so in therm of masters points the event is largely doted and the teams qualified for the masters finals should be determined after this event. Once again this year the tournament will take place in Poitiers, at the Palais des congrès of the Futuroscope park.

The Palais des congrès of the Futuroscope will gather the French scene once again

This year it is likely that three main teams will fight for the title and this should help us to rate the current others French best teams, of course when I say others it refers to who is behind the VeryGames domination who has been taking home all the French gold trophees for a year or so. Also for once the final will not include RpK and his colleagues, and we will surely have a more spicy ending than the usual one!

The CS:S tournament will start on Saturday afternoon with group games and the brackets will be played on Sunday, the grand final of the event beeing sheduled at 13:00 CET on Monday. Cadred will provide you a full coverage of the event so stay tuned, now it is time for a short presentation of the attendance.

LDLC

Sebastien 'KRL' Perez
Stéphane 'HysokA' Salvadori
Thibaud 'tac' Laganne
Alexandre 'bistouflyyy' Lebozec
Michael 'mK' Zaidi

This will be the last event for this core five who went trough ups and downs since they stick together. With the departures of 'KRL' and 'bistouflyyy' to Australia it is still unknown what will happen to the others players, I believe they still haven't thought about it yet and prefer to focus on the present event. What can we expect? A very good communication which have been their strong point all allong, and the motivation for a last run in Poitiers. I mean it will be tough for a man like 'KRL' if his team does not reach 1st place at their last event, and even more when his rivals are not there. Their final rank will surely depend on the individual forms which have been fluctuating, and made LDLC get better endings at international events than in their country lately. Time to fix it up.

Prediction: 1st

Sypher

Sébastien 'janssen' Janssen
Clément 'MAS' Drouaire
Nicolas 'luMpy' Brénat
Ludovic 'Shokkk' Martin
Jérôme 'Soulm8' Michon

Sypher have been under the spotlights after a fantastic run in EMS past season, since that we heard a lot less from the side as they started to totally reconstruct their game in order to perform better at LAN events. Some time have passed and they also recently added 'Shokkk', who could really be the key of success in Poitiers. Ludovic will bring his experience, which will be quite necessary against teams led by old players like 'KRL' and 'maleK' . This week-end the team should be ready to fight the other two big names and the oppositions are likely to be close. If LDLC need to end on a good note Sypher will compete for a come back on top, and they definately have their chances despite lacking a bit of preparation.

Prediction: 2nd

eLogic

Floran 'crZ' Thoumelin
Damien 'maleK' Marcel
Kevin 'Uzzziii' Vernel
Allan 'enk1or' Lopez
Mickael 'spl4sh' Nguyen Van

This eLogic line up have always reached & more the expectations made about them since the season started. They got good results at previous LANs and a notable & recent 3rd spot at Maxlan, and are in a very good position in EPS. Their game really progressed this past weeks and they will surely be the one of the three teams with less pressure, as they only showed themselves positively and kept holding the good form. It is really hard to say if they will beat the other favourites or if the inverse will happen as these three teams look extremely close, and to be fair eLogic have also great chances to win the tournament.

Prediction: 3rd

Challengers

It seems like the difference between the three best teams and the rest will be important. Here is the list of the teams attending the event as dark horses, and exceptionally the few challengers will be names that you probably have not heard about. We have as good example of that Virus who will be there to confirm their qualification for the masters finals, as they currently hold a good spot in the global rankings. The team led by the expressive 'As-T' will give the best of itself to try kicking out one of the favourites of the tournament. Something that PyRoGEN was close to achieve at last Spirit lan after loosing in overtime against LDLC.
